My primary role is Senior Research Fellow at Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), working at the intersection of AI, Economics, and Policy. My work involves designing economic and social policy to allow us to better prepared to deal with market dynamics of AI firms and workers, via a lens of economic justice. My work has been featured in multiple international news and media sources. Before working in public policy, I was halfway through a PhD in CS, choosing to leave to focus on other career interests. Due to my high level of technical education, I have extensive technical expertise in Data Science, Deep Learning, Causal Inference, and a strong education in the Social Sciences. Research I have co-authored has been published in leading Computer Science and Social Science journals, conferences and workshops. I have written a book on NLP and am currently writing my second book on Deep Learning. I have extensive experience in software and process engineering in AI systems and considerable open source contributions. I am also a technology, data, and AI consultant for Civil Society groups, Law firms and regulators who are interested in challenging big tech corporations and their power. I have conducted multiple technical investigations and supported the writing of regulatory frameworks.
