CAD, Revit, EnergyPlus | BIM, HVAC, Load Calculation & Energy Modeling

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐎𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭! The energy model uses one set of loads, schedules, and efficiencies. HVAC equipment gets sized from another. Then the Revit model introduces a third version of the design. Those gaps usually show up late — during compliance review, coordination, construction documentation, or after equipment has already been selected. I’m a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Building Energy Modeling and HVAC/MEP Design, with Revit/BIM coordination supporting the engineering workflow. Because I work across both building performance and mechanical design, the envelope assumptions, load calculations, HVAC strategy, equipment sizing, compliance analysis, and mechanical drawings can all be developed from one consistent set of inputs. That means: - HVAC equipment sized from documented loads, not rules of thumb - Energy-code compliance checked while design decisions can still change - Energy models and mechanical drawings that actually agree - Fewer coordination issues between separate consultants - Clearer engineering assumptions from early design through documentation 𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐘 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 - Whole-building energy modeling using EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, and IESVE - ASHRAE 90.1, Appendix G, IECC, NECB, NBC, and Ontario SB-12 compliance support - Baseline vs. proposed building analysis - Energy conservation measures and retrofit studies - Envelope and thermal-performance analysis - Thermal comfort and daylight studies - Energy studies and audit support aligned with ASHRAE 211 𝐇𝐕𝐀𝐂 / 𝐌𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍 - Heating and cooling load calculations - HVAC system selection and equipment sizing - Heat pumps, VRF, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, chillers, and pumps - Ventilation and outdoor-air calculations - Duct sizing and air-distribution design - Hydronic heating and cooling systems - Mechanical plans, schematics, riser diagrams, and equipment schedules - Revit MEP modeling and mechanical coordination 𝐁𝐈𝐌 / 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 I use BIM as an engineering tool, not just a drafting platform. My work can include: - Revit MEP modeling - Architectural / structural / MEP coordination - Clash and constructability review - QA/QC of models and drawing sets - Existing-condition and as-built modeling - Point-cloud based modeling where required - Coordination from schematic design through construction documents For projects requiring more detailed analysis, I can also support CFD airflow/thermal studies and mechanical 3D modeling using tools such as SolidWorks and Rhino. 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐈 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊: I prefer to identify design issues early rather than discover them in the final submission. My workflow typically includes: - Reviewing drawings and available project information first - Flagging missing or conflicting information before modeling begins - Documenting key assumptions - Cross-checking calculations, models, and drawings - Providing clear written updates and practical engineering recommendations I have 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, HVAC, building performance, and BIM-related work across residential and commercial projects for international clients. I also work at GreenBIMSource , a remote engineering and BIM team. This gives me additional capacity for larger multidisciplinary packages while I remain directly involved in the engineering and coordination. If your project involves Building Energy Modeling, HVAC Design, Load Calculations, Energy Code Compliance, or Revit MEP, send me the drawings and required deliverables. I’ll review what you have, identify any missing information, and outline the most practical approach before we start.
