Embedded Systems Developer | C++ | Python | Qt Specialist | Agile Dev

Software engineer with 8+ years building and maintaining production C/C++ and Qt/QML systems on embedded Linux, most recently on agricultural guidance and control systems. While embedded and Qt work is my deepest specialty, my background in computer engineering fundamentals and years of working across complex, long-lived codebases means I'm comfortable taking on work outside that core when the problem calls for it. Core specialties: Embedded Linux application development in C/C++ Qt/QML development for HMI and cross-platform desktop applications (formal Qt/QML training completed) Python for tooling, automation, scripting, and data processing Cross-component debugging and production defect resolution on long-lived codebases Tracing system behavior end-to-end across legacy and active components Code review, design input, and release readiness work Also open to: General C/C++ and Python work outside the embedded space Legacy codebase maintenance, modernization, and Qt version migration Technical consulting, code review, and architecture discussions Adjacent problems where strong debugging instincts and systems-level thinking matter more than prior exposure to a specific stack AI-assisted engineering: I work daily with current AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI) and keep up with how they're evolving. My approach is to use them to increase throughput without compromising quality - maintaining repository-level instruction files, reusable prompts, and structured context so the tools produce consistent output; reviewing what they generate rather than accepting it blindly; and recognizing their failure modes (hallucinated APIs, missing context, overreach) before those failures ship. The result is faster work on large or unfamiliar codebases without the quality regression that comes from treating AI output as finished code. How I work: Full Agile/Scrum participation (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, occasional facilitation) Experienced in distributed teams with coordination across time zones Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Good fit for: Embedded C++ projects on Linux Qt/QML HMI development for industrial, agricultural, or instrumentation equipment Cross-platform C++/Qt desktop applications (Qt 5 or Qt 6) Python scripting, tooling, and automation work Legacy C/C++ codebase maintenance or modernization Production debugging on systems where correctness and stability matter
