Senior Grant Writer & Manager | Federal, State, Nonprofit | RFPs

I help municipalities, nonprofits, and businesses find funding, write competitive proposals, and manage grants from application through closeout. With 15 years of experience, I have helped secure approximately $30 million in grant awards across my municipal and consulting work, including approximately $12 million during my tenure as Grants Administrator for the City of Sweetwater. I’ve worked across all three major sectors: government, private business, and nonprofits. Within government, I’ve served on both the administrative and legislative sides, as a municipal Grants Administrator and an elected commissioner. I’ve worked from the inside as a municipal employee responsible for grant development and administration, and from the outside as a consultant supporting multiple municipalities. I understand how projects move from an initial idea through budgeting, approvals, funding, and implementation. My experience goes well beyond writing applications. As a municipal Grants Administrator, I reorganized grant records, addressed audit findings, strengthened reporting practices, and improved the City’s grants management system. My responsibilities also included procurement oversight and emergency management during hurricanes and the COVID-19 pandemic. Selected awards I have helped secure include: • $2.84 million through Florida’s Biscayne Bay Water Quality Grant program. • $1.5 million through the federally funded CDBG-DR General Infrastructure Repair Program. • Multiple Community Development Block Grant awards, including $500,000, $460,000, and $357,382. • $280,000 through USDOT’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program. • $157,048 through USDOT’s Reconnecting Communities Pilot program. My grant and RFP experience spans multiple states, including Florida, Virginia, Texas, Delaware, California, Illinois, Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. This work includes public-sector grant applications, responses to municipal and state solicitations, and proposal development in the electric vehicle charging industry. I’m experienced in interpreting funding requirements, translating technical information into clear proposals, and coordinating with public agencies and private-sector teams. My nonprofit experience includes food access, senior services, special needs education, arts and culture, veteran employment, disaster response, mental health, workforce development, and environmental restoration. I help organizations turn program ideas and raw information into compelling proposals supported by realistic budgets, measurable outcomes, and a clear case for funding. I can support the full grant process: funding research and strategy, eligibility review, letters of inquiry, application narratives, project budgets and schedules, supporting documentation, and submission. My post-award work includes reimbursement requests, reporting, procurement documentation, compliance, and closeout. I also prepare government RFP responses for businesses pursuing public-sector contracts. I’m a thorough researcher and a fast learner who can get up to speed on unfamiliar programs and industries. Clients can expect direct communication, careful attention to detail, and early notice when information is missing or a deadline is at risk.. Whether you need a single application, an ongoing funding strategy, or help managing an existing grant portfolio, I bring both the writing skills to make your case and the administrative experience to carry the work forward.
