Accounting Automation, API Integration & Reporting | QuickBooks, Xero
Your accounting stack is connected. Your team is still doing the work by hand. I make QuickBooks, Xero, Stripe, Gusto, Dext, and A2X work as one system, so the manual work stops and the numbers still hold up. I am a chartered accountant who builds technology for bookkeeping and accounting teams. That pairing matters. Making A2X reconcile Shopify payouts to the penny is not a software problem. It is a chart-of-accounts problem, a tax treatment problem, and a timing problem, and getting it wrong means the books are quietly off until someone catches it at close. I read the trial balance before I touch any tool. WHAT GETS BUILT FOR YOU If a task in your books is manual, repeats on a schedule, or depends on two tools agreeing with each other, it can be fixed. For most bookkeepers, fractional CFOs, and accounting firms that means: 1) Stack integration and sync across QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books, or Sage, connected to Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, A2X, Link My Books, Dext, Hubdoc, Gusto, and Ramp. Configured so the data flows correctly, the COA mapping holds, and the reconciliation ties to the penny. Where native integrations isn't enough, I build the bridge with n8n, Make, or Zapier. 2) Bookkeeping automation and accounting automation across the full cycle: accounts payable automation with validation and approval routing, accounts receivable automation with configurable dunning that stops the moment payment lands, and month-end close workflows that cut the scramble. 3) Bank reconciliation and payout reconciliation: Stripe and Shopify payouts decomposed into balanced journals with fees, refunds, and reserves broken out. Bank feeds matched to invoices and bills or categorised against the chart of accounts, proposed for one-click human review. 4) Receipt and expense matching: card charges matched to receipts by amount, date, and vendor, attached as documentation, recoded from Uncategorized Expense. Human review for anything uncertain. 5) Financial reporting and dashboards: management reporting packs, budget versus actual, KPI dashboards, cash flow forecasting. Built in Excel with Power Query, Google Sheets with Apps Script, Looker Studio, or Fathom. Refreshable, templated, deployable across a client portfolio. 6) AI-assisted accounting workflows: categorisation, document extraction, invoice processing, transaction matching. Constrained to the real chart of accounts with confidence thresholds that route uncertain items to review, not the ledger. RESULTS: 1) Cut vendor bill processing to under 90 seconds per invoice with five validation checks before anything posts to QuickBooks. 2) Took invoice chasing entirely off an owner's plate with an accounts receivable workflow that stops the moment a customer pays. 3) Broke Stripe and Shopify payouts into balanced Xero manual journals, reconciled to the penny, with an immutable audit trail on every transaction. 4) Built a Xero bank reconciliation engine that processed 27 statement lines in under 40 seconds, proposing matches and categorisations for one-click review. 5) Diagnosed a Shopify-to-Xero integration the connector vendor missed, including correct VAT treatment on a sole-trader-to-limited-company cutover. 6) Delivered a QuickBooks Online API integration solution for a dev team after two dead ends, with a tested Postman collection and implementation guide. Published in full on GitHub with real audit logs, live screenshots, and architecture documentation. WHO I WORK BEST WITH Bookkeepers and accounting firms managing client portfolios on QuickBooks Online or Xero. Fractional CFOs and controllers who need the finance stack producing reliable numbers before the advisory work starts. Developers building accounting API integrations who need the domain expertise on the other side: correct accounts, correct tax treatment, correct journal structure, correct audit trail. Every system includes error handling, an append-only audit trail, full documentation, and a walkthrough video. If it is not production-ready, it does not ship. NEXT STEP Describe the process, integration, or reporting task that eats the most of your time. One line is enough. You will get an honest answer within four business hours on whether it is worth solving and what it would take.
