Versatile and expressive multi-instrumentalist with 20 years' experience as a music producer, session musician, composer, and educator. Known for bringing character, warmth, invention and intention to every project-whether creating immersive soundscapes, composing for screen, designing sonic branding, editing podcasts, creating arresting sounds for advertising or building educational music programmes. I am a studio owner, with my studio located in a converted chapel, and I love nothing more than to be copped up in there amongst my Aladdin's cave of musical gear cooking up sounds and unique vibes on my vast synth collection, saxophones, pianos, organs, tape machines and characterful outboard equipment to deliver fresh sounds that are anything but the off the shelf cookie cutter templates that, in my opinion, are being leaned on far too often in our industry. I believe that as AI rears its head we would be wise to embrace the unique, the weird and the brave. I've written and produced music for film, TV, advertising and branding. I have scored feature length documentaries, written music for various TV shows - from drama to reality - and I have worked alongside brands and creative agencies to deliver music, sonic branding and sound design for clients across a number of different categories including; luxury consumer good, food and drink and dating apps. The Wire describe me as a "slippery antagonist" - in the nicest possible way of course - whilst Pitchfork have said that “he wields his sax like a flamethrower, blasting open portals into unrestrained psych-jazz chaos...like a lion tamer luring his beast into a cage.” My performance and production work spans work with the following artists: - Yard Act (including on their Mercury Prize nominated debut) - James Holden - Drahla - Virginia Wing - XAM Duo - Hayden Thorpe - OFF - Modern Nature This work has seen me working in the studio both as a musician and a producer. As a performer thsi work includes performances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Later with Jools Holland and televised performances from the main stages at the Glastonbury Festival.
