Instructional Designer | Education Leadership & Behaviour Change
Need learning that actually changes behaviour, not just ticks a box? I help organisations design learning that influences real decisions, not just looks good in an LMS. With over a decade in education and senior leadership roles, I bring a practical, accountable approach to instructional design. Who I work with: I work with organisations that need learning to work in practice, not just meet a brief. Most of my clients are: • L&D and training managers • HR and people teams • Education, public sector, and mission-driven organisations • Teams working in compliance, safeguarding, onboarding, or behaviour change If your training needs to stand up to internal scrutiny and actually influence decisions or behaviour, I’m a good fit. What makes my background different: Before working as a freelance instructional designer, I spent over ten years in international education, including senior leadership roles. That experience means I design learning with: • Real organisational constraints in mind • Multiple stakeholders, not just learners • Clear accountability for outcomes I’ve led digital transformation projects, staff training programmes, safeguarding initiatives, and curriculum design at scale. I understand how learning is approved, questioned, and evaluated inside organisations. How I approach instructional design, I start with: • What needs to change • Who needs to change it • What will realistically work in your context My approach is grounded in learning science and organisational decision-making, shaped by a PGCE and an MBA in Educational Leadership, and always applied pragmatically. I regularly use frameworks such as ADDIE, Action Mapping, and evidence-based design principles to create learning that is clear, focused, and measurable. Areas I’m often hired for: • Scenario-based eLearning and simulations • Safeguarding and compliance training • Staff onboarding and induction • Parent, staff, or community-facing learning • Training where judgement and decision-making matter Recent work includes safeguarding training for parents and staff in education settings, and large-scale teacher onboarding programmes designed to support consistent decision-making across organisations. Tools & delivery - I design and build using: • Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise • PowerPoint and Canva (for stakeholder-friendly materials) • AI-assisted workflows where appropriate and responsible What clients value about working with me: • Clear thinking and structure • Calm, professional communication • Strong stakeholder awareness • Learning that feels realistic and usable • Not needing to “translate” instructional design for leadership I am easy to work with, reliable, and accountable from discovery through delivery.
