I help supplement brands turn early ideas, uncertain formulas and manufacturing problems into workable products. My work covers ingredient and dose selection, formulation, regulatory review, manufacturer-ready specifications and troubleshooting when a product does not behave as expected. I’m a biochemist with an MSc, studies at Wageningen University & Research, and more than 15 years of formulation and manufacturing experience. I’ve worked on approximately 100 Health Canada NPN applications across Class I, II and III. Clients typically bring me in to: • Develop or reformulate a supplement with the dose, dosage form and manufacturing process in mind • Review the evidence, safety and regulatory fit of an existing formula • Prepare quantitative formulas, Bills of Materials and specifications for a manufacturer • Resolve stability, solubility, flavour, texture or production issues • Handle Health Canada NPN applications, amendments and reviewer responses • Review US supplement labels and assess formulas intended for other markets, including Australia I can also help assess manufacturer proposals and support the handoff from formula to pilot production. I am fairly direct about what works and what does not. If a formula is underdosed, unnecessarily complicated, difficult to manufacture or unlikely to support its intended claims, I will explain the problem and give you.
