I fix, extend and audit software that already exists and has to keep working: custom WordPress and WooCommerce plugins, JavaScript and PHP, Node and TypeScript back ends on PostgreSQL, and AI features on the Claude API. I'm Chris, a senior full-stack developer in South Africa (GMT+2), with good overlap on EU and US hours. What I do (ranked by what clients hire me for): • Custom WordPress and WooCommerce plugins. A framework-agnostic Vue 3 module plus a WordPress plugin with its own database table and REST API, delivered across eight funded milestones and running on the client's site. A calculator plugin that took a client's own prototype into their live site with its CSS scoped so nothing else broke (5.0 stars, "phenomenal work"). An upgrade-safe WooCommerce plugin you can install and read: documented hooks only, HPOS-compatible. • Code audits and fixes on existing codebases, including AI-built ones. A paid assessment of a live case management system (5.0 stars), then a write hole on an update endpoint found and closed. A Firefox-only drag bug traced to how Firefox starts a drag from an SVG, after a fix "proved" in Chrome turned out to prove nothing. Playwright QA that caught five pricing tabs sharing one element id, which internal testing had missed. Every finding comes with a location, a severity and a reproduction. • AI integration into existing products. A WordPress plugin giving an AI companion memory per member, rolling summarisation inside the token budget, and a content-safety gate on input and output across fourteen compliance categories, red-teamed against six attack routes and verified live (5.0 stars, "a complex, compliance-heavy piece of work, and he delivered exactly"). I promise a tested, auditable gate mapped to your rules, not a model that can never be wrong. • Back ends that hold sensitive data. The developer on a South African litigation practice's case management system: Node, Express and TypeScript on PostgreSQL, per-user and per-record access enforced in row-level security so a direct API call cannot reach what the interface hides, and an append-only audit trail. Before that, a 152-hour senior engagement on a PHP, JavaScript and PostgreSQL codebase. • JavaScript calculators and interactive tools. A $2,000 custom financial platform with persona routing and JS calculators (5.0 stars). Live demos in my portfolio: a real-time pricing engine, a loan eligibility calculator, a Next.js quote configurator with a secure Stripe checkout, and a 3D product viewer for WooCommerce. • WordPress rescue and payments. Theme migrations and PHP upgrades (5.0 stars, "excellent from start to finish"), Stripe discount logic on a live payments page (5.0 stars, "fast and effective"), and server-side purchase tracking into GA4. Staging first, a full backup, and browser tests before go-live. How I work: • Day 1 to 2: read the brief twice, ask the sharp questions, write a short scope with milestones and a fixed price. On anything complex the first milestone is a paid audit. • Week 1: a first working increment on staging. Never silence. • Ongoing: short async updates with screenshots, blockers flagged within a working day. • At handover: a README another developer can pick up cold. Not a fit if you need 24/7 support, model training from scratch, a 6-month Laravel build, or someone to manage subcontractors. I work hands-on and solo, and I would rather fix the system you have than sell you a rebuild.
