Robotics & Embedded Engineer | ROS 2 | C++ | Python | Computer Vision

Robotics projects often work in simulation or on the bench, then break on real hardware. Sensors drift, timing slips, and the code was never built to run in the field. That is the gap I work in. I build complete systems, from firmware and PCB design to ROS 2 software and perception, and I test them on real robots, drones and boards. I have worked on 20 projects on Upwork, plus robotics and research work in Germany. SELECTED WORK - ROS 2 robotic arm with a depth camera on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, fusing camera views into a live 3D model of the workspace (Lucas-Nülle GmbH, Germany) - Software-in-the-loop drone training simulator built on ArduPilot SITL, Mission Planner, Webots and AirSim, with 20 fault-injection scenarios - Physics-residual learning model for airship gust-response prediction, developed during my bachelor's thesis at the University of Stuttgart. First-author paper under review at ICRA 2027 - 4-layer dual-MCU controller board (ESP32-S3 + STM32) designed in KiCad - GNSS/RTK navigation for a field robot running on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano - Halt: a commercial website and app blocker for Windows, built in C#/.NET, with its product website and licensing backend CORE EXPERTISE - Robotics: ROS 2, Gazebo, navigation, ArduPilot, sensor fusion (IMU, GPS/RTK, compass, barometer) - Embedded systems: STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, RTOS, embedded Linux, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN - Computer vision: OpenCV, depth cameras, object detection, 3D reconstruction - Control and estimation: PID, LQR, state-space and nonlinear control - Hardware: PCB design in KiCad and Altium, board bring-up and debugging - Software: C++, Python, C#/.NET desktop applications, web development BACKGROUND - Mechatronics Engineering, German University in Cairo, ranked 3rd university-wide by GPA - Bachelor's thesis at the Institute of Flight Mechanics and Controls, University of Stuttgart - Robotics and AI working student at Lucas-Nülle GmbH, Germany - Recipient of multiple DAAD scholarships HOW I WORK I begin by clarifying requirements and agreeing on clear milestones. I share testable progress early, communicate regularly, and deliver well-documented, maintainable code with a complete handover. For larger builds I split the work into phases, so you can review each stage before the next one starts. If you have a project in mind, send me a short description. I will reply with a proposed approach, a realistic timeline and an honest assessment of whether I am the right fit.
