Infrastructure Migration and Automation for Legacy Systems and Servers
Most of the time I work with systems that have been running for a long while. They do their job, but nobody is really comfortable touching them anymore. Changes feel risky, deploys are manual, and there’s usually very little documentation. I come in to sort that out, but I also set up new infrastructure when needed. That can mean building clean environments from scratch or migrating old servers to something more structured. I add automation where things are still done by hand and make sure deployments, backups, and recovery are straightforward. I’m careful with production systems and don’t rush changes. I plan work so there’s always a rollback path, because things don’t always go as expected. Once things are stable, I focus on the basics that tend to get skipped. Backups that actually work, monitoring that tells you when something is wrong, and documentation that someone else can follow later. The goal is to make the system boring to run, in a good way. I’m comfortable taking ownership of existing infrastructure or building new setups that are easy to maintain from day one. If you need help migrating, cleaning up, or setting up infrastructure with automation and sane defaults, I can help.
