Which surprised me - I always felt like I was doing something fancier. Most developers come from one world or the other - startups or enterprises. I've done both. → Startups: build fast, ship fast, figure it out as you go → Enterprises: mistakes are expensive. When something breaks at a billion-euro company, it's not "we'll iterate" - it's missed revenue, it's a massive problem. Things need to work. For years I didn't see the connection. At Capgemini, building systems for Ducati and Kuwait Petroleum, I thought I was doing "business intelligence" and "data-driven decision making." In reality? I was automating reports through arbitrarily complex data pipelines. I've done two startups. First one: we thought we were building a revolutionary crypto platform. We were building automated trading. Second one: we thought we were revolutionizing tech hiring. We were automating tech candidate screening. When I started my consulting firm, I wanted to offer all kinds of sophisticated services.
