Industrial Designer -Mechanical Product Design -SolidWorks CAD - DFM
I help turn consumer product ideas into SolidWorks CAD models, mechanical designs, and technical drawings for prototyping and manufacturing. My focus is product design, 3D modeling, industrial design, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Whether you have a sketch, reference images, an existing CAD model, or a prototype that needs improvement, I can help develop your concept into an editable design. I consider how your product looks, how its parts fit together, how it will be used, and how it can be manufactured. PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT I work with your requirements to develop consumer products, custom parts, housings, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies. The process starts with understanding your intended users, functional needs, dimensions, and production goals. My services include concept development, industrial design refinement, product detailing, and 3D CAD modeling. I can support a new idea or improve an existing design that needs clearer geometry, better component placement, or simpler assembly. Share your sketches, photographs, measurements, and existing files. I review the information, identify missing details, and clarify the requirements before moving into detailed design. SOLIDWORKS CAD AND 3D MODELING I use SolidWorks to create editable models for individual parts and assemblies. An organized model structure supports design reviews and makes it easier to update dimensions and features as your requirements develop. Depending on the scope, I can provide parametric part modeling, assembly modeling, component layouts, and modifications to existing SolidWorks files. When working from images or sketches, I use your measurements and constraints to develop dimensioned CAD geometry. MECHANICAL DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY I consider the details that affect fit, function, movement, and assembly: mounting locations, fastening methods, component access, and clearances between parts. For enclosures and housings, this can include internal component placement, cover attachment, and access for servicing. For interacting components, I work through the intended connections and movement within the agreed scope. Where a feature needs physical testing, I explain the assumptions and identify what should be checked during prototype assembly and use. DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING I develop CAD with the intended manufacturing process in mind. Design for Manufacturing involves reviewing geometry, material choices, wall thickness, part complexity, fastening, and assembly requirements. I can help simplify components and prepare clearer files for discussions with your manufacturer. When your supplier provides feedback, I can incorporate agreed changes into the CAD model and technical drawings. Production decisions should reflect the selected material, manufacturing process, supplier capabilities, and results of any required testing. PROTOTYPING AND DESIGN REFINEMENT I can prepare CAD geometry and suitable exports for prototype development, including STL files for agreed 3D printing requirements. Prototype testing helps evaluate dimensions, fit, access, and assembly before further development. Using your measurements, photographs, and test feedback, I can refine the design and update relevant features. This gives each revision a purpose and helps resolve practical issues as the product develops. 3D DESIGN AND CAD DRAFTING My 3D design work connects the visual form of a product with its functional requirements. I develop part geometry and assembly layouts so you can review proportions, component relationships, and design details before committing to a prototype. CAD drafting and technical documentation help communicate the information needed for the next stage. I can prepare detailed views, dimensions, and clear assembly details within the agreed scope, keeping the drawings consistent with the CAD model. For product development projects, I can also help organize feedback into specific design changes, so each update addresses an identified requirement and supports the next review. TECHNICAL DRAWINGS AND DELIVERABLES Depending on your project, deliverables can include: - Editable SolidWorks part and assembly files. - STEP files for CAD exchange and supplier review. - STL files for prototype printing. - Dimensioned 2D technical drawings in PDF format. - Assembly views and component identification. - A basic bill of materials. - Notes on assumptions and design revisions. We agree on the scope, required files, milestones, and revision stages before work begins. Send me your project brief, sketches, or existing CAD files, and tell me what you want to achieve. I can help define a practical next step for your product.
