Wesley P.
Senior Backend Engineer | System, Data, and Architecture
I started working on PHP web apps. Most of my time was spent on backend logic, databases, and keeping older systems running. Pretty early on I noticed a pattern. Things did not break because of code most of the time. They broke because the data was messy or the system structure did not make sense. That pushed me to focus more on backend work. I started building APIs and working with data from different sources. A lot of it was not clean. I spent time making it consistent and usable without making the system too complex. Over time I took on more responsibility around how systems are put together. I still write code, but I also think about where logic should live and how data moves through the system. I have also helped coordinate work on some projects, but I always stay close to the backend. I prefer to stay hands on and understand what is actually running. Most of the work I take on now is not building from scratch. It is fixing systems that already work but feel off. Slow, messy, or hard to extend. That is usually where I can help the most.
