Stathis A.

I am a Biologist and Microbiome Analyst with an MSc in Microbiome Analysis (University of Thessaly) and currently a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). I have over 3 years of experience in aquatic ecology, bioinformatics and medical microbiology. My work focuses primarily on aquatic microbial ecology and medical microbiology, with an emphasis on microbiome analysis of phytoplankton, bacteria, fungi and aquatic plants. I use R, python and bioinformatics tools to analyze and interpret ecological and high-throughput sequencing data, delivering clear insights from complex medical and environmental datasets. I have contributed to research projects in marine and freshwater ecology, including the Horizon Europe “Path4Med” project, and have presented multiple scientific posters at international conferences. I have worked with data form research in medical microbiology combining biomedical data analysis, bioinformatics, and computational methods to investigate microbial pathogenesis, with multiple presentations at scientific conferences. I also participated in iGEM Athens 2024, strengthening my experience in teamwork, synthetic biology, and science communication. I have experience in bioinformatics and microbiome analysis across diverse and complex datasets, spanning environmental microbiology and human-associated biological systems, using computational and statistical approaches for data integration and interpretation.
