Photographer and Film Director

Mariano Herrera was born in Buenos Aires and has lived in Barcelona since 1997. His photographic work does not distinguish between commercial and personal photography; both fields are approached in the same way: aesthetics as the driving force and main tool of visual communication. His commercial work—whether advertising or editorial—makes up the majority of his archive, and his images echo a tireless search for honesty through his lens. His work has been published in numerous media outlets around the world, including the British magazine Monocle, The New York Times, El País Semanal, Editorial Planeta, Kinfolk, Port, Rolling Stone, and Esquire. Some of his clients include Banc Sabadell, San Miguel, Codorníu, BBVA, Banco Santander, Estrella Damm, ICUB, and the Generalitat de Catalunya. He has created several campaigns for most Spanish political parties and has also produced various gastronomic books about chefs such as Max and Stefano Colombo from the restaurant Xemei, as well as Bittor Arginzoniz and his grill restaurant Etxebarri, among others. In September 2024, he published his first personal book, The Shadow of a River, with the Berlin-based publisher Kominek Books.
