Timothy M.

I help researchers, educators, and technical professionals communicate complex ideas clearly, accurately, and professionally. I am a mathematician, researcher, and university professor with more than 30 years of experience writing, editing, teaching, and explaining mathematics. I have authored or co-authored numerous research papers, a book, a book chapter, and extensive educational materials. My particular strength is the combination of deep mathematical expertise and strong writing skills I understand not only how to improve grammar and style, but also how to organize technical material, clarify mathematical arguments, and present complex ideas effectively to a specific audience. On Upwork, I can help with: *Technical editing and proofreading of mathematical and scientific papers, dissertations, books, and other technical documents. * Mathematical writing and revision, including improving organization, clarity, introductions, abstracts, and explanations. * LaTeX formatting and document preparation, including professional mathematical typesetting * Educational materials, including lecture notes, instructional materials, problem sets, and presentation slides * Research presentations, including Beamer slide preparation, organization of content, and presentation rehearsal * Technical documentation, including instructions, tutorials, and quickstart guides My teaching experience ranges from precalculus through advanced graduate courses in real analysis, complex analysis, and mathematical logic. One of my major teaching projects involved leading a comprehensive redesign of my department's precalculus program. The initiative increased student pass rates from 36% to 78% while also improving measured student learning. The work received national recognition from the American Mathematical Society and resulted in a peer-reviewed publication. As a researcher, I have published in leading mathematics journals, including the Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society and the Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, and I have presented my research at national and international conferences. Whether you need a mathematical manuscript polished for publication, a technical document made clearer, a LaTeX document professionally formatted, educational materials reorganized, or research slides turned into an effective presentation, I bring both subject-matter expertise and careful attention to communication. My goal is simple: to make your ideas correct, clear, well organized, and compelling to your intended audience.
