Engineering Optimization Specialist | C++/Qt Desktop Applications

I build native C++/Qt desktop applications that solve engineering optimization problems, design parameter tuning, multi-objective trade-offs, constrained search, and simulation-driven optimization. My background is academic: I've spent years working with the mathematics behind metaheuristic and gradient-based optimization (genetic algorithms, PSO, simulated annealing, gradient descent variants, Bayesian optimization). What I want to do here is apply that depth to real engineering problems where the math actually matters, not chatbot wrappers, not dashboards, but tools that help engineers make better design decisions. Why a desktop app, not a web tool: Engineering optimization runs long, uses large datasets, often calls external solvers or simulation binaries, and needs to work offline on a workstation. A native C++/Qt app gives you the performance, the integration with local FEA/CFD/SPICE tools, and the distributable installer that web apps can't match. What I can build for you: - Parameter optimization GUIs that wrap your existing simulation or solver - Multi-objective design exploration tools with Pareto-front visualization - Custom solvers for problems where off-the-shelf optimizers don't fit - Sensitivity analysis and what-if scenario tools - Batch-mode optimization runners with progress tracking and result logging My approach: Because I'm new to freelancing, I'm pricing competitively while I build my Upwork track record, but the technical depth is the same I'd bring to a research role. I prefer to start small: a one-week paid prototype against your real problem, so you can verify the approach works before committing to anything larger. If you have an engineering problem that currently lives in a spreadsheet, a MATLAB script, or a chain of manual simulation runs, and you want it turned into a proper tool your team can use, that's exactly what I'd like to work on.
