Python/FastAPI Backend Engineer | Payments, PDF Parsing, Scraping, ETL

Python/FastAPI and TypeScript backend engineer for founders and small firms: payment systems, document parsers, web scraping and data pipelines, handed over with tests and notes so you can check them. Paid client work: • Auth, Stripe payments and a usage-credit ledger for a live AI SaaS (FastAPI, PostgreSQL): 63 tests, including 32 concurrent reserves against a balance of one with exactly one winner. The client rehired me for the production deployment. • IRS Form 990 parser for digital and scanned filings, with a review path for uncertain values, handed to the client's Zoho team as a running service. • Sports data pipeline and viewer on the Kalshi and MLB APIs. Rehired for a second engagement. Systems I built and run: • A pricing data platform: 175K+ products, 13M+ price points, 1,000+ locations, 15 states, with BullMQ/Redis workers that normalize, dedupe, retry and recover. • Warehouse labeling software in daily production since December 2024, with a three-tier offline fallback. What I take on: • Python/FastAPI or TypeScript/Node.js backends and APIs • Payments: Stripe checkout, idempotent webhooks, credit and usage ledgers • Document extraction: PDF and scanned forms into checked data, every uncertain value flagged instead of guessed • PostgreSQL/Supabase schemas, migrations and integrations • Web scraping and ingestion pipelines that handle retries, partial failures and input changes • Finishing or repairing an existing system How I work: projects run asynchronously in writing. You get a short scope with acceptance checks before the milestone begins, working checkpoints while I build, and a handoff you can come back to later. I take a small number of engagements at a time and there are no subcontractors; you work with me directly. Where a number cannot be verified, I flag it rather than fill it in. Send me the current system, the outcome you need, and the main problem you need fixed. I'll reply with what I would verify first and a fixed first milestone.
