Book Formatting & Proofreading | KDP Print, EPUB, Word & PDF
KDP rejected your file over margins or bleed. Your Kindle version looks fine on a laptop and falls apart on a phone. One small correction and every page after it shifted. I fix those and send back files built to pass the upload check, checked against your manuscript before they reach you. Anything ambiguous comes back flagged with a question, never guessed. What I work on: Print interiors for KDP and IngramSpark. Paperback and hardcover, 6 x 9 or any trim, with the right gutter for your page count, running heads that follow the chapter, front and back matter numbered separately, and chapter openings that look intentional. Novels, nonfiction, workbooks with write-in spaces, cookbooks, handbooks. Large print editions, paperback to hardcover versions, and new editions of a book you already have. You get the final page count early, so your cover designer can set the spine. Ebooks. Reflowable EPUB 3 files that pass EPUBCheck, with a linked contents page, tables and write-in spaces rebuilt so they work on a phone, and chapter openings that survive the trip from print. Heavy books. Footnotes and endnotes kept live, Chicago or APA citations made consistent, tables of cases and statutes, and indexes that rebuild themselves after every change. Proofreading and copyediting. Grammar, spelling, punctuation and consistency in Track Changes, so every correction is yours to accept and your voice stays as it is. In fiction I also check every invented name and place against itself across the whole book. Series and conversions. One style template for every volume, so book three matches book one. Publisher, PDF or Canva files rebuilt as clean Word documents or print-ready files. Upload errors. Fonts not embedded, images under 300 DPI, text in the gutter, an odd page count: the messages KDP sends back. I measure the file, fix what is real, and tell you which warnings you can ignore. How it works: Send the manuscript. I open it and tell you what I found before quoting, so you know what you are paying for. Fixed price, agreed before I start. You see a sample chapter first, then the whole book. Every file runs through an automated check before delivery. I build those checks in Python, so trim size, margins, fonts, page numbers and links are measured on the finished file rather than assumed. What I do not do: illustration, brand design, or inventing a look from scratch. I work on the structure underneath, and on clean typographic covers built to the printer’s own template. Also: long Word documents and reports, fillable PDF forms, and Excel files that break when someone adds a row. You get the editable Word file with its styles intact, the print-ready PDF and the EPUB. Send the file and I will tell you what is wrong with it.
