(OSI), a pioneering accounting software company based in Minneapolis, from founding to acquisition. "From startup to stardom" is how the Minneapolis Star Tribune described the trajectory of Open Systems. My co-founder was the Silicon Valley venture capitalist, Ann Winblad. Open Systems shipped its application source code to licensees in 1978 at no charge beyond the license fee for the executable, two decades before that practice had a name.
