Most lead lists match a filter. Mine find a reason to buy. I'm an economist and former BDR who closed US$72K in ARR, and I target from first principles: who buys, why now, and who signs. I think in distributions and probabilities, not job title plus company size. Before I build a list, I work out what your best customers actually look like, which events make them ready to buy, and which person inside the account owns the decision. Then I reject everything that only looks right. Recent work For a fire safety training simulator manufacturer, I rebuilt targeting from their 743-customer file. Splitting purchases from rentals showed manufacturing and food plants rent 70 to 75% of the time, and about 79% of the people who sign are site-level EHS roles.
