My profile does say 30+ jobs in progress BUT pls check the dates, many clients leave the hourly jobs open and just shoot me a quick paid question or task when SHTF and their everyday developers can not handle it. With 20 years of Linux and web development experience, I'm a green-carded Aussie permanent resident of the USA, now settled in North Carolina! My primary goal is to foster long-term relationships with employers and businesses through consulting. In the past, I launched and ran a startup for a total of 15 years - 7 years based in Australia and 8 years while nomading. This venture, which I've since exited, was a blend of hardware and software, designed to display digital menu boards and signage in eateries, clubs, and retail spaces. What began as a Windows-based SaaS solution was transformed into an Android device system, a change driven by the demands of my nomadic lifestyle. Every aspect of this business, from concept to execution, was self-developed by me. The backend was crafted in PHP and hosted on AWS, with a detailed digital menu board editing system constructed in JavaScript for the frontend. The system projected the signage and menu boards on an Android device, powered by self-developed Java Android software, complemented with custom modifications to the device's base ROM. Note the Australian Air-Force and many large franchises in Australia have used this system for many years and continue to. WordPress has played a significant role in my journey since its second version. My methodologies encompass strategies like caching, lazy loading, and prioritizing different assets for optimization, ensuring swift site performance and an enhanced user experience. My site stands as a testament to this approach, optimized for speed with a focus on key metrics like LCP. Deeply entrenched in Linux and DevOps, I possess advanced skills in traditional Linux and AWS environments. I'm adept at managing multi-server projects that incorporate redundancy, load balancers, Memcached servers, and RDS auto-scaling. Yet, I'm actively expanding my understanding of containerized systems and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). I'm well-versed in digital marketing tools, especially Tag Manager, and have set up intricate triggers for various projects. SEM and SEO are also areas of my expertise. My hobbies, which include producing automotive videos on YouTube, have given me a unique perspective on video performance across social platforms. Regarding PHP and code optimization, my experience with Laravel is foundational. Still, my real strength is in modifying WordPress and its plugins, always adhering to best practices and leveraging hooks for adjustments. Based in North Carolina, my home is furnished with a dedicated office space, ensuring I have all the necessary tools for work and teleconferencing. I'm actively seeking opportunities to utilize my skills, be it through contract work or full-time roles with local employers. Being in Winston-Salem, I'm ideally positioned for collaborations with local businesses, though my primary inclination is towards remote roles with the option for occasional in-office interactions.
