I design and develop embedded systems spanning firmware, electronics, PCB design, motor control and real-time control. For more than 10 years, KiCad has been my primary PCB design environment, and I have used it for dozens of real-world hardware designs and hundreds of manufactured units. My experience covers the complete hardware development cycle: electronic design and schematic capture, multilayer PCB layout, design reviews and iteration, generation of manufacturing files, manufacturing orders and coordination, PCB bring-up, testing, validation and final approval. I combine this hardware experience with extensive hands-on firmware development in C, STM32 and other microcontrollers, including motor control, FOC, sensorless control, power electronics, communications and connected embedded systems. My recent work includes high-power battery motor controllers using BLDC/PMSM motors, sensorless FOC and custom power electronics, together with the firmware, communications and supporting software required to turn the electronics into a complete product. My background also includes commercial software frameworks, distributed applications, real-time systems and aerospace software, as well as technical leadership and product architecture. As a CTO, I have been responsible for technical architecture, major technology decisions, engineering coordination and the integration and technical validation of work carried out by external engineers and contractors across hardware, firmware and software. I have also worked directly on the technical documentation and development activities associated with R&D projects. I am particularly interested in technically challenging projects involving embedded firmware, motor control, power electronics, connected devices, hardware/firmware integration and embedded systems architecture. I can work hands-on at the implementation level or take responsibility for the architecture and technical direction of a larger system.
