Backend Developer (Rust & PHP) | Axum, Tokio, High-Performance APIs
I am a backend-focused software developer transitioning from more than 10 years of professional PHP experience into production-grade Rust development. My current focus is building high-performance, reliable backend systems using Rust, with strong emphasis on async programming, concurrency, and system-level understanding. I work primarily with Axum and Tokio to design and implement backend APIs, internal services, and supporting tools where performance and correctness matter. Before Rust, I spent many years maintaining and extending real-world production systems written in PHP (Laravel, Yii, and pure PHP). This background allows me to understand legacy systems, business constraints, and long-term maintainability, not just writing code that works in isolation. I am comfortable working close to the protocol and infrastructure level, including HTTP, TCP-based services, request/response lifecycles, async runtimes, and backend integration with databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL. I also build CLI tools and backend utilities when appropriate, and I have experience exploring Rust use cases such as Tauri-based desktop backends and WebAssembly. I value clear communication, honest estimates, and incremental delivery. I prefer small, well-defined tasks with measurable outcomes, and I focus on writing code that is readable, testable, and maintainable over time. Time zone differences are not an issue, and I respond quickly during active projects. If you are looking for a developer who combines strong backend fundamentals with modern Rust practices, and who understands both new systems and existing codebases, I would be glad to work with you.
