Medical writer and consultant

I am very excited to introduce myself to you as someone looking to advance my career as a Medical Writer, pharmaceutical writer, or grant writer with a specific niche in the medical education or pharmaceutical/biotech fields. Drawing on my 20 years of experience in writing continuing medical and dental education materials, I have been working as a freelance contributing author to the pharmaceutical industry, journals, marketing firms, and contract research organizations, and am seeking full-time employment. When I was younger, my first love was music. I went into medicine in hopes of finding a cure for my mother’s blindness. Music remained important to me, and I was able to tap into my creative side within medicine by writing. I authored numerous scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals, taught about writing and research, and developed a blog site, all while practicing medicine in private and academic settings. In 2008, my wife and I moved from our home state of Michigan to pursue our dream of living in California. This did not work out well, since the job as a physician did not allow for teaching, research, or writing. After 5 years, I felt that my best bet was to drop out of medicine, move back home, and pursue writing. I’ve been working for a dental journal, the NextDDS, creating both scientific articles and marketing copy. I am writing educational materials as a Subject Matter Expert for health care professionals. I’ve served as Editor-In-Chief for a new online journal called Journal of Medical Insight and have been teaching on the side. My experience has also included curriculum design and authoring of test banks for nurses. I edit manuscripts written in a foreign language and translated to English in hopes of being published in American journals. I am driven and am very good at what I do. My career has been successful because I am smart, fast, and confident. I am an award-winning teacher and invited speaker on clinical topics and can clearly and convincingly communicate innovative ideas, concepts, issues, and successes. I am a published author in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and have participated in numerous clinical trials in an academic setting. I have 12 years of experience working on drug safety evaluations in clinical settings. I have a depth of knowledge that enables me to easily connect and communicate with all members of the writing team. I am adept at handling multiple simultaneous priorities and assignments, and my interpersonal skills are second to none. Thank you for reviewing my information.
