Principal Engineer | AI/Software Engineer: Evals, RAG, TS/Rails

Hi, and thank you for viewing my profile! I'm a software engineer with over two decades of experience who pivoted into applied AI engineer in the past years. I've been lucky enough to thrive in different environments. I've been a startup founder a few times, so the chaos of an early-stage company feels like home. I've been the only technical person on the team, and I've been in companies where I've worked alongside hundreds of developers. One of my proudest achievements: I built an app from day one to nearly a million users, then led the technical side of the merger when it was acquired. So, how can I help? If you are... 👉 ...building an app from scratch? I can work autonomously with no supervision from zero to finish fully owning a product. Or, we can collaborate daily ironing out every little detail. Or anything in between! 👉 ...looking for AI/LLM pro? I've hand-coded (wild thing to say nowadays!) harnesses and custom agents to get a better feeling of the model quirks, religiously optimizing the inference costs. Whether you need evals, LLM observability, or tune your RAG - I'm your guy. Transforming your existing app to agent-enabled one by shipping your MCP integration, or maybe you want your in-app chat gain real agentic capabilities? I'm also your guy. 👉 ...augmenting your current team on an existing project? I'll fit right in! I like to share my knowledge as much as I like to learn from peers. 👉 ...fractional tech lead/CTO? That works too. • How I work nowadays? • I don't write code by hand anymore. I'm still an expert at it (and I even miss it sometimes!), but AI-assisted development moves the needle so much faster. Depending on the project, I read either only the high-stake pieces (security, payments, hot-code paths), or all code. I spend most of the time with the LLM ironing out plans and high-level APIs, and the agents do the coding according to the plans. Generally, I aim agents to run 24/7 - whether it's inside a software factory, or as a bunch of worktrees on my machine. Though my work is completely agent-driven these days, sometimes I still take a break and perform a deep-dive in the codebase to see if it's in a good shape. I noticed that slop easilly snowballs, so I work on noticing it early, and tightening up the *.MD files guardrails to prevent that. • My skills – tag cloud • (Tech stack for quick scanning, the list is not exhaustive) Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, SQL, HTML, CSS Frontend: React, Astro, Tailwind CSS, Vite, Redux, Zustand, TanStack Query Backend: Node.js, Bun, Ruby on Rails, Express, Next.js, Fastify, tRPC, REST APIs, WebSockets, background jobs, trigger.dev Testing & Quality: Vitest, Jest, Playwright, Cypress, RSpec Integrations & Services: Stripe, Twilio, SendGrid, Postmark, webhooks AI-Assisted Development: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, agentic coding, spec-driven development AI / LLM Engineering: LLM integration, custom AI agents, agent orchestration, agentic workflows, custom harnesses, RAG, prompt engineering, function calling / tool use, MCP, embeddings, fine-tuning, structured outputs, rerankings, prompt caching LLM Providers & Frameworks: OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, AWS Bedrock, Ollama; LangChain, LangGraph, Vercel AI SDK, custom solutions AI & LLM Orchestration: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, AWS Bedrock; LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, Custom solutions.
