My name is Alex. I'm a backend developer with more than a decade of experience of designing and building software across various domain and stacks but after years I have found my place within Spring Boot ecosystem. I have extended experience with cloud architecture, working first-hands with most cloud-native components of contemporary development (k8s clusters, queues, serverless, identity managers, monitoring, blob stores and databases, etc). In my most recent role I have been responsible for designing systems that span multiple teams and interact with a small fleet of microservices. Our business model demanded various parts of the system to be under constant compute-heavy load as well as tolerate sporadic uncapped bursts. This experience solidified my bigger-picture view on software development and design, as frequent meetings with stakeholders, team leads and lead architect force you to constantly think about the system as a whole and re- evaluate application flows and design decisions. These interaction with other teams also provide great opportunity to share your ideas on improving the system. Also, on my most recent project I have been blessed with great teammates from whom I was able to learn a lot in terms of team process improvements. Together we have been able to setup a descent CI/CD flow and our personalized scrum that suited our needs as a team. Having worked a lot with a legacy-heavy systems I have also acquired some experience in using system monitoring to analyze and fix bottlenecks and perform major refactoring, service deprecation and data migrations that introduced an order of magnitude latency and system throughput improvements.
