Carina G.
Translator
While working as a freelancer translator, editor and proof-reader I have acquired many skills as well as personal qualities that are extremely useful. As a self-employed professional my job is not only to convert material from one language to another but to understand the cultures that both, produce the material and the material is intended to. This is why I need to ensure that the translated version has the same meaning as the original. My job has taken me to specialize in various types of documents: scientific, technical and literary. A successful freelance translation highlights the excellent command of the two languages but also, accuracy, creativity, meeting deadlines, IT skills, and strong written communication skills. So as a translator I have to be resourceful and be able to work independently and use in-house resources effectively, such as online databases and problem resolution procedures. I am also well versed in resolving a wide range of administrative issues as well as client problems and inquiries. I have experience in composing and editing images using programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel. I am extremely flexible and versatile while able to maintain a sense of professionalism under pressure.
