I am Atty. John Marti Maghopoy, serving as a partner in the law firm of Matiling & Maghopoy. Here are some FAQs about us: How does your service stand out? We provide services based on diligent research, an analytical approach, the use of modern tools, prioritization of settling disputes out-of-court, and integrity above all. Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? No. The prices will depend on each service. We have to know the specific details of the matter before we can provide pricing. What is your typical process when working with a new client? The first order of business is that we extract all relevant information from the client. We do this by conversing. After getting all the details, we will advise on the best course of action, whether it be through the filing of a case or some other out-of-court remedies. Even if filing a case is the best for us financially, our priority is that our client gets what he or she deserves, even if that means not filing any case. What educational background and/or professional qualifications do you have in your field of practice? Attorneys Charissa Matiling and John Marti Maghopoy have the same educational background. They are both graduates of Philippine Science High School and the University of the Philippines of which they have science-based courses (B.S. in Applied Math, Cum Laude, for Atty. Matiling and B.S. in Economics for Atty. Maghopoy). This is how they honed their analytical proficiency in tackling cases. They also came from the same law school, the University of San Agustin. Atty. Matiling was a Provincial Assessor and is currently a Real Estate Appraiser while Atty. Maghopoy was a professional writer/editor and he now teaches Labor Law. How did you get started doing this type of work? We chose lawyering because of our skillsets and our passion to help others. What types of clients have you worked with? We have worked mainly with companies (outsourcing business, veterinary clinic, financing institution, printing business, real estate companies, construction firms), offering legal advice on contracts, labor issues, real estate issues and general business issues. We have also worked with individuals concerning criminal defense and prosecution as well as civil cases concerning quasi-delicts and damages. What advice would you give a client looking to hire a professional in your domain? They should choose the ones whose values align with theirs. What questions should clients think through before talking to professionals about their project? They should ask as early as possible on what to expect. A clear expectation of the project moving forward is the best approach in having a sound relationship with the professional.
