Dawn J.

I am an expert fiction line editor specializing in Chicago Manual of Style, dialogue, and narrative flow. While there is an hourly rate posted, I prefer working on fixed-price projects. My rate is below the industry standard at $0.01 per word, but I am open to negotiation. After two decades of working on a variety of genres, including romance, paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi, and gay fiction, I am confident my editing skills and experience will help provide the most entertaining and effective storytelling for any project. I have an excellent command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, story structure, pacing, and characterization. I know that awkward wording and sentence structure can throw a reader out of the story faster than the U.S.S. Enterprise being thrown out of warp. So, if you want your readers transported and lost in the tale you’re spinning, I can help with that. Prior to my years at Upwork, I worked as an editor for an online publishing service, producing 500+ edited pages per week in a variety of genres. Before that I worked as an author and senior editor for an online publisher of romance for more than ten years. During my time there, I published more than twenty works (short stories, novellas, novels). On the editing side, I routinely edited manuscripts ranging from 10,000–120,000 words. I communicated well and frequently with authors and coworkers, and assigned edits to other editors, later evaluating their work. My reference materials are the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster Online. I look forward to working with you.
