Deon B.
Creative Strategist And Direct Response Copywriter
I'm Deon, a Direct Response Copywriter who recovered £22,492.50 for my last two clients from lead lists they'd written off as dead... without a penny of new ad spend. Mind you, if you're on Upwork reading copywriter profiles, chances are you've been burned before. You hired a copywriter or a creative strategist. They promised the world, then either vanished halfway through or delivered something so poor you had to start again. So you spend weeks reading proposals and vetting strangers, hoping this one will be different... and then you watch it all go up in flames again. That's not how I work. I'm Deon, and I'd rather show you what I've done than tell you what I'm like. So here are two examples. A home improvement company gave me 226 "dead leads"... people who'd asked for quotes but never bought. Most businesses have a list like this sitting in a spreadsheet, gathering dust. I ran a reactivation SMS campaign and 37 of them came back to life. That's a 16.4% response rate off a list everyone had written off. One of those 37 turned into an £18,696 deal. Then a mobile car detailing business let me at their old enquiries. Some were 18 months old, some nearer four years... ancient. Inside 30 days that list produced a run of sales adding up to £3,796.50. Two clients, £22,492.50 recovered from people everyone else had given up on... and not a penny of new ad spend. Neither of those was clever writing. Both were just following up with people who already half-wanted to buy, with the right angle, at a moment when nobody else could be bothered to show up. That's the job as I see it. Not wordsmithing... finding the angle that makes someone stop, pay attention, and act. Most angles don't work, and that's fine. You only need one that does, and the only way to find it is to keep swinging. One more thing before we get into the practical stuff. Before your copy ever reaches you, it gets a once-over from the Halbert family. If you don't know Gary Halbert, look him up... he's the godfather of direct response copywriting. I'm on a weekly call with his sons, Kevin and Bond. So your campaign gets their eyes on it... without their price tag. What I can write for you: Ad creative for Meta and Google... hooks, angles, scripts, the stuff that stops the scroll. Email campaigns and sequences, including dead-lead resurrection. Sales pages VSLs Webinar script Landing pages Amazon listings. Advertorials Long-form direct response. And the strategy round all of it... which offer, which angle, at which awareness level, in what order. Basically, if you need something written that's meant to pull money out of a market, I can help Who I work best with: You've got an offer that already sells, at least a bit. I'm not the man to go and find product-market fit for you. You've got an audience, a list, or running ad's... something for the creative to land on. And you're up for testing angles you haven't tried, rather than asking for the same ad again in a different colour. Now, if you've been burned before, this next part matters more than any portfolio. I won't vanish halfway through your project, and I don't do "just need a few more days". I set clear deadlines and I hit them. Why can you count on that? I spent ten years as a REME aircraft technician in the British Army, and that job teaches you what a deadline is. When a helicopter has to fly at 0600, "nearly done" doesn't exist... You plan backwards from the deadline and finish the work before it. I manage client projects the same way. You get clear timelines and regular updates, and the work lands when I said it would. Because reliability is rarer than talent in this game. Portfolios are below if you want to see the work. And if you've got a list going cold or an offer that isn't converting, send me a message and tell me about it. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so. If I am, the risk sits with me... you're not happy with the work, you don't pay. Best Deon
