I believe that my students benefit from a unique teaching approach based on empathy and modern learning research. This makes my teaching strategy highly adaptive, as it is influenced by the students themselves. While some students need structure and step-by-step help, others work better with a guide as they pursue more independent studies. Critical thinking skills - even with my younger students - are genuinely pursued. The core of learning is not the rote memorization of facts. The key lies in developing how to ask the right questions and then building the skills to discover those answers. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Sociology from Penn State and I have experience tutoring both in-person and fully remote. I've had the privilege of working with students of many diverse backgrounds; from elementary to young adults in the US and internationally, ESL students and with Penn State's Career Studies program whose focus is on guiding students with disabilities. I also enjoy working with students who do not fit well into the molds of "traditional" learning and helping them to succeed. I also have nearly two decades of professional writing experience.
