Complex Systems That Feel Simple | For Purpose-Driven Businesses

I take on the complicated problems, systems that span your store, your data, your team and your tools, and make them simple for the people who use them. For purpose-driven businesses that want to build something ambitious, carefully, starting with one clearly scoped first piece. Recent work includes a live insights report built in under a day, an AI assistant whose drafts wait for the founder's approval, and 2,151 email profiles recovered after a suppression nobody had noticed for 15 months. I've been building with AI for nearly four years, over 7,000 hours on the technical side, after more than 17 years in online business, so I think about your customers and your numbers, not just the tech. I work best with businesses whose mission shows up in how they operate. I want to help build a world I'd be proud for my children to grow up in. WHAT I BUILD - Reports that make sense of messy data: built from your store, search and email data, showing what customers search for, what they open next, what's about to run out and where your numbers disagree. Every figure links back to its source. - Connected systems: Shopify, Klaviyo, CRMs and your other tools working together, with less repeated data entry and checks that catch where they quietly disagree. A check you can do today: compare how many customers Shopify says agreed to marketing email with how many Klaviyo can actually reach. If they're far apart and nobody knows why, message me. - Customer tools: product finders, calculators and knowledge tools that turn a complicated range into a simple choice. - AI that waits for you: assistants that draft replies, posts and page changes from your approved material, with health, product and green claims locked to your exact wording. Nothing goes out without a person's approval, and every draft and approval is recorded. - AI system reviews: before you build an assistant or agent, I review its memory, permissions, approvals, failure handling and running costs, and give you a prioritised plan. RECENT WORK - Aviation training provider (my family's company): a Course Finder and Training ROI Calculator that pass enquiries into their CRM, a Knowledge Hub, and a live insights report of searches, reads, arrivals and course opens, counted anonymously. The first version of the report took under a day. - UK wellness brand: an AI assistant that drafts social posts, emails and page changes on an unpublished copy of the Shopify site. The founder approves each one, and the assistant can't change its own rules without a person saying yes. In use since September 2026. - UK wellness brand: traced a 15-month email suppression, then recovered and verified 2,151 profiles within the platform. Not a claim about delivery or sales. - Private engagement: six failures between a store, its email platform and connected tools, each reproduced before I reported it. The largest: the store believed 5,490 customers could be emailed, while the platform could reach about 150. Neither system flagged it. - My own AI operating system: complex underneath, with one simple rule on top. Agents can propose changes to my project records, and the software won't apply them without my approval. I only claim results I've measured. If time saved or money made hasn't been measured, I'll tell you. HOW WE WORK - We start with one clearly scoped first piece, and agree what good looks like, where a person has to approve, and the price, in writing, before work starts. - A first version is often ready within days: a prototype for testing with real use, not yet a production system. - Limits are enforced in the software, not just written into the AI's instructions. AI models aren't given your passwords or API keys. - We plan for things going wrong: failures, duplicate actions, and approvals that take a while. - We agree where your data lives, on systems you control if you need that, and what it costs to run. - You work directly with me and keep the agreed code, data and accounts, with documentation and a proper handover. ABOUT ME I'm British, based in Peru, working US Eastern hours. Most of my Upwork history is marketing and customer acquisition for online businesses, which is why I build with your customers in mind. Alongside client work, I collaborate with LAAD, a research lab at UNSAAC in Cusco, on El Hilo que Persiste: research into what can still be communicated, recorded and known when infrastructure fails. Its four questions come into client work too: did it arrive, what was recorded, what can we know, and who decides? Tools: Python, Node.js, TypeScript, Supabase/Postgres, Cloudflare Workers, Shopify and Klaviyo APIs, Claude and OpenAI models, MCP. GETTING STARTED Tell me what your business does, who it helps, and the ambitious thing you'd like to build, connect or fix, or the complicated thing you'd like made simple. A few sentences is plenty. No technical brief needed, and the first outline is free.
