Hey there! I'm Seth, an ex-Academic turned Data Scientist. My experience with data began in the academic world, where I published peer reviewed academic papers in several respectable journals. After two years as a post doc, I realised I was in love with the data, not the process, so I dove headfirst into the exciting realm of data science. I left academia and joined the UK Government in a data science role, passing a Statistician's bar exam in the process. My research used massive linked data sources - we're talking over 60 million rows - to inform the COVID-19 response. I now apply that knowledge to use big data to solve pressing environmental policy problems. For years, alongside my day job, I've been a data science freelancer, crunching numbers, making sense of data, and turning it into actionable insights. I've worked on projects big and small, and love helping my clients become more data literate and creating beautiful, bespoke visualisations that meet their specific needs. In my downtime, I'm on a mission to conquer iOS development. I'm always keen to embrace new challenges and pick up new skills that might make me better equipped to help my clients in the future. I'm not your typical freelancer. I bring a mix of academic rigour, policy expertise, data-driven insights, and combine it with a friendly, relaxed, approachable and professional work ethic. My approach is all about collaboration and making sure I provide my clients not only with high quality work, but a high quality experience.
