In the world of publishing, this means having a professional and eye-catching cover that will attract your target audience. It means having a clean and easy-to-read text layout with a typography style that matches the message of your book. It means having a book that looks and feels professionally polished from start to finish. I am no stranger to hard work, tight deadlines, and going above and beyond to create the perfect design. I have over 15 years of experience working as a book designer professionally. I started my career after college in 2011 working for a self-publishing company formatting books and covers for paperback, hardcover, and eBooks. I then moved to work for a math company designing textbooks for publishers such as National Geographic Learning, Pearson Education, and Cengage Learning. Now, I am a full-time freelancer on Upwork. Before I began my career in graphic design, I was an English major and worked as a tutor throughout my four years of college. My primary role was proofreading/copy editing college papers, helping to bring a more professional and polished tone to their voice. I also volunteered as an editor for the college’s newspaper. If your manuscript needs editing, I would be happy to discuss the topic of your book to see if I would be a good fit as your editor. I have extensive experience creating tables, graphs, text boxes, and other design elements in InDesign. I am proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Word. I have extensive experience with typography, image manipulation, and page layout. I am very familiar with the requirements for books being published through Ingramspark, Amazon KDP, Blurb, and many others. I do not use any AI to design or edit, and pride myself on this artistic integrity. Your project is important to me. If you’re not happy with the design, then neither am I.
