Writer and English-Bengali Translator

I grew up reading books borrowed from our small-town public library and completed both my BA and MA in English. When I started working as a freelance writer and English-Bengali translator 8 years ago, Upwork was as good a marketplace as it is now. Just one difference: back then, writing was an entirely manual process, and there was little room for doubt about how writing was done. Then came ChatGPT, causing a paradigm shift in the writing industry. Large Language Models are fast and efficient, so it’s no wonder that they have already had an impact on knowledge workers. With this backdrop in mind, I would like to explain my relevance as a language professional in these rapidly changing times. When requesting a text generator to write on a familiar topic, you may notice its limitations. These tools often produce beautifully crafted yet meaningless content. Manual writing, in contrast, has something inherently human that LLMs cannot emulate. There are a few fields that I believe I understand better than AI tools do. They include history of the Indian subcontinent, spirituality, education, SaaS, E-commerce, pets, real estate, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) technologies. Do they sound unrelated? They are! This is what happens when you write for any industry that is willing to pay! When I am working on a client's project, I never use AI for writing without the prior permission or demand of that client. If you want me to use AI for creating content, I may be able to significantly contribute to the growth of your business. I can provide user prompts for your content and then polish and humanize the machine-generated text. I am not really scared of the rise of AI chatbots, and I treat them as tools, just the way I treat Grammarly, Hemingway App, and text editors, like Google Doc. However, when it comes to translation, I think Large Language Models have a long way to go, particularly for the low-resource languages such as Bengali and Assamese. Yes, I use CAT tools for translation, and I know that they can be useful for certain types of translation. But I never think of using a CAT tool for translating a literary work. And every time I find a client who appreciates human expertise in language, I feel blessed. I look forward to discussing how I can assist you with your project.
