Niels B.
Long-form Narrative Writer, Translator, Published Documentarian
I’m a fully trilingual (EN, NL, ES) writer, author, translator, and documentary storyteller with a background in long-form editorial work, commercial content, localization, and research-based writing. I’ve also written for publications including UN Today and Literature/Film Quarterly, and have worked across documentary film, interviews, photography, research, healthcare, institutional communications and multilingual content. You can find me on Substack too. My strongest work sits where storytelling, research and clear communication meet. I can take raw material — interviews, transcripts, customer stories, research, reports, source copy or technical information — and turn or translate it into writing that is structured, natural and genuinely readable. I’m equally comfortable writing a long-form customer story, refining B2B thought leadership, adapting corporate content for Dutch-speaking audiences, or translating specialized material without making it sound translated. What I do • Long-form narrative and customer-story writing • Research-based articles, features and thought leadership • Interview and transcript-based writing • English → Dutch translation and localization • English/Dutch/Spanish content and multilingual adaptation • B2B, institutional and commercial copy • Healthcare, financial and medical content • Technical and government documentation • Editing, structural revision, proofreading and linguistic QA • Documentary, audiovisual and interview-based storytelling • AI, digital transformation and technology-related content My translation and localization background includes medical materials for Johnson & Johnson, healthcare content for Belgian medical specialists, banking and financial-sector website copy, and technical/infrastructure documentation connected to the Dutch government. I’m a native Dutch speaker from Belgium and can write naturally for both NL-BE and broader Benelux audiences, as well as English and Spanish. I’ve also worked with EU institutions, government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and commercial clients, which means I’m comfortable dealing with terminology, sensitive subject matter, research-heavy briefs, and content where accuracy matters. At the same time, I’m not interested in making everything sound like a corporate report. Whether I’m writing about a customer, translating a report, editing an interview, or developing a long-form article, I care about clarity, voice, and keeping the reader engaged. I adapt to the intended audience rather than forcing every assignment into the same formula. I use AI where it genuinely improves efficiency, but the final work remains human-led: fact-checked, context-aware, linguistically natural, and properly edited. If you need someone who can understand complex source material, find the story or message inside it, and turn it into polished English or Dutch, I’m interested — particularly in ongoing assignments where quality and consistency matter more than simply producing as many words as possible.
