Full Stack Developer (RoR | Web Developer)
Looking for a Full Stack Developer who can own a Ruby on Rails project end to end without you having to chase updates or double-check every deliverable? I'm Surender, a Full Stack Developer (RoR | Web Developer) with 11+ years building, scaling, and modernizing web applications. Ruby on Rails is my main framework, but I work across the whole stack rather than sticking to one layer, and that's the Web Development work clients bring me in for again and again. Architecture, business logic, data, testing, and production reliability all get the same level of attention from me. 🏆 WHAT I'VE BUILT → Production Ruby on Rails applications spanning Rails 3.x through current releases, and Ruby 1.8.x through modern versions, always with clean Ruby code underneath → Legacy Rails codebases modernized in safe stages instead of risky full rewrites → PostgreSQL-backed systems with schema design, migrations, and query tuning that held up as traffic grew → Full Stack Developer builds where the JavaScript and HTML frontend got the same attention as the Ruby backend behind it → RSpec test suites and TDD coverage added to codebases that had little to none → AI features built on OpenAI and similar APIs for document processing, summarization, and semantic search inside existing Ruby on Rails apps → PostgreSQL performance audits paired with RSpec coverage reviews on apps I didn't originally build → JavaScript and HTML frontend polish on older Rails views that needed a refresh, not a rebuild → Modern Rails frontends built with Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus instead of defaulting to a heavier JavaScript framework when it isn't needed ⚙️ HOW I WORK As a Full Stack Developer, I get to know the Ruby codebase first, then make changes in safe stages instead of tearing things apart. I flag incomplete requirements early and think through how a decision made today plays out for the architecture down the line. On an existing product, that means reviewing the Ruby on Rails setup, cleaning up the Ruby codebase, tuning PostgreSQL, and expanding RSpec coverage without disrupting what's already working. On a new build, it means shaping the data model, the JavaScript and HTML frontend, and the API design from day one, with good Web Development habits built in rather than added later. For most Rails projects that frontend layer starts with Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus before I reach for a heavier framework like React or Vue.js. Good Ruby habits and Web Development habits go hand in hand for me. On larger engagements I've also led projects end to end and mentored other developers, though most of my day-to-day is still hands-on as a Full Stack Developer. 🎯 TECHNICAL SKILLS 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 ✅ Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Python, PHP, Node.js 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 ✅ JavaScript, React, Vue.js, AngularJS, jQuery, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 ✅ PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis 𝗔𝗣𝗜 ✅ REST API, GraphQL, OAuth 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ✅ RSpec, Unit Testing, Integration Testing, TDD 𝗪𝗲𝗯 & 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 ✅ Shopify, WordPress, Web Design, Web Hosting 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 ✅ Blockchain integrations, AWS, DigitalOcean, Heroku 🤝 WHY CLIENTS COME BACK Good JavaScript, clean HTML, and a well-tuned PostgreSQL database matter just as much to me as the Ruby on Rails backend tying it all together, because Web Development only feels complete when the whole stack holds up under real usage. RSpec coverage isn't an afterthought either. I include it wherever appropriate, whether I'm working on a new build or a legacy fix. I'd rather get the JavaScript, HTML, PostgreSQL, and RSpec side right the first time than patch a Web Development project later. Clients don't need to manage me closely as a Full Stack Developer, they tell me what they're building and I take it from there. Got a Ruby on Rails project, or an existing Web Development app that needs work? Send me a message and let's talk about what you're building. ⭐ SERVICES I PROVIDE ✅ Ruby on Rails application development, modernization, and long-term maintenance ✅ Full Stack Developer work spanning backend architecture, APIs, and integrations ✅ PostgreSQL database design, tuning, and performance optimization ✅ JavaScript and HTML frontend implementation with React, Vue.js, AngularJS, or jQuery ✅ RSpec testing, TDD, and coverage on existing Ruby on Rails apps ✅ Deployment, Web Hosting, and ongoing Web Development support ✅ Shopify, WordPress, and Node.js work when the stack calls for it
