Fractional Staff Software Engineer

Hello. A little bit about me: I often develop software that connects several of critical systems together, with the ultimate goal of removing friction, reducing the number of manual steps, and improving employee's efficiency in general. The past few projects showed me that my work creates the most value for companies with a couple hundred staff, where software development is not the company's core business. Those companies usually work with several disconnected systems, and people often waste time on things that should be automated - keeping two databases in sync; having to open three different interfaces to put some information together; the list goes on. Saving half an hour a day in a team of ~200 people amounts to a 100 hour efficiency boost every day. It's a big deal. Everyone can start focusing on doing something of value instead of fighting the friction. I like that. If this sounds like your situation, let's talk. --- My usual tech stack covers PHP, Symfony, PostgreSQL, AWS and other relevant technologies. I have a special interest in Go- and Laravel-based projects as those are currently on my self-improvement radar. **A snapshot of things I've done in the recent years:** - Built a risk management SaaS platform, and its team, serving critical infrastructure sector in Australia, saving CI businesses tons of money by enabling them to make better-informed decisions on where to spend their risk management budgets - Built a workforce management system (asset allocation, task and availability) for top surveying company in Australia, massively increasing productivity of 150 high-value professional employees on any given workday - Built a virtual tour platform for top mining company in Australia, allowing to map and VR-browse their remote sites by employees/contractors who would otherwise have to FIFO, which reduced overall costs and risks associated with FIFO and people on-site for no good reason - Picked up maintenance of several existing applications and their servers, working with the customer to further develop required functionality That’s 2015+. Before that, I was learning a lot by spending a decade starting and operating a web development studio and later a separate IT support startup back in the Czech Republic, where I come from. --- Please note I DO NOT WORK WITH WORDPRESS.
