I am an experienced, multilingual editor, translator and data entry specialist, with additional experience in program management and professional subtitling. While my mother tongues are English and German, I am also internationally certified in Spanish and French at native fluency (at the highest achievable level). Please see below my qualifications and experience in these sectors: ---TRANSLATION--- German and English being my mother tongues, I am also certified in Spanish and French, and have had ample professional experience as a translator in a variety of sectors, including the United Nations (UNESCO and UN Women), where, among other tasks such as program management and data entry, I translated official documents, such as publications, government texts, presentation, letters and reports, mainly in English, Spanish and French. As a freelance translator, I have extensive experience in the field of advertisement, marketing, tourism, entertainment and lifestyle sectors. I have for instance translated entire webpages for hotels, the gaming industry, product descriptions (beauty), insurance. My translations are never "Google translate", but always manual, involving also research and fact-checking for specialized or technical vocabulary. I pay great attention to detail like syntax and grammar, and particularly when transmitting the original tone of the source material, such as idioms, wordplays, marketing language or other linguistic peculiarities. This is especially important in advertisement and marketing, but also academic and fiction writing. ---EDITING--- I have also proven professional experience in editing. For instance, I edited and proofread, various publications for the United Nations (UNESCO) in English and Spanish, which have officially been published. In addition, having a Social Science Masters from the London School of Economics (LSE), I have an excellent academic background in the social sciences, government and international development (especially in gender studies, sociology, international development, international relations, critical race and postcolonial studies and culture), which allows me to also take up "heavy editing" jobs like academic writing. ---SUBTITLES/TRANSCRIBING--- I was also able to work professionally in transcription and subtitling. For subtitles, I use professional (paid for) software and can deliver accurate timestamps in most common formats (.srt, .ssc...) and integrate them to any audio/video format. One particular asset of mine with regards to any kind of audio files is my ability to transcribe and translate SWISS GERMAN native dialect(s). Noteworthy projects in subtitling: I created and translated the German and English subtitles for a full season of the Swiss series "Der Bestatter" (The Undertaker). Most recently, I also created and translated subtitles in Spanish and English for the award-winning German movie "Nackt unter Wölfen" (2015). ---DATA ENTRY--- As program specialist at the United Nations and as independent research and data consultant, data management and were among my most common task. I have no problem gathering and organizing large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data, and entering them in data management software or Excel. Meticulousness and expediency were very important when handling official government data.
