With my background as a senior retoucher and department manager at a leading New York City graphics services company, I have extensive experience retouching product shots, fashion and beauty images, on-figure images, composite images, and lifestyle images for ecommerce and the web, advertising, packaging and more. Clients have included leading advertising agencies like Ogilvy, Marsteller, and McCann and brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, L’Oréal, IBM, American Express, AT&T, Hanes, Champion, Time Life, Hennessy, and Honora Jewelry. I am highly proficient in various retouching skills--retouching, image manipulation, color correction, masking and silhouetting, removing backgrounds for complex images, compositing multiple images, greatly improving poor photos, and many more. I am also very skilled at using Adobe Lightroom to adjust camera raw files to greatly enhance an image, having spent many hours using it both professionally and for my own personal photography. I have a great deal of experience working with many images from a photoshoot and processing them while maintaining a consistent look across all images. I began retouching in the 1990s when I taught myself Photoshop and led the successful establishment of the retouching department as our company transitioned into a digital prepress and graphics services company. I developed an in-depth technical understanding of Photoshop, digital imaging, and color theory and management. I am skilled in advanced Photoshop techniques like frequency separation, which is particularly useful for maintaining a natural look while retouching skin. I have always been highly regarded by my employers and my clients for my determination to do things properly at a high level of quality, my attention to detail, and my judgment. I work with a meticulous attention to detail and quality, and with a very sharp eye for color. In every role throughout my career, I have had the responsibility of checking and signing off on work. My primary concern has always been meeting the needs of my clients--providing high quality work that meets deadlines and budgets, with the understanding that different clients have different expectations for how much retouching they want done and what their budget is.
