I’m particularly good at converting difficult ideas and complex subjects into clear, readable, interesting prose. I’ve assisted students applying at the high school, BA/BS, master’s, and PhD levels, and have helped international students with English grammar and pronunciation. I’ve ghostwritten more than 100 nonfiction ebooks, primarily in history and biography, on subjects ranging from the Sikhs and the British wars in Ghana to the U.S. Camel Corps, the Shawnee Prophet, the Paraguayan War, the Scramble for Africa, the Columbian Exchange, American Indian games, and many more. I also have 20 years of experience teaching writing, literature, and humanities at the college level. Before and alongside my freelance work, I spent 20 years teaching college courses in writing, literature, and the humanities at two Florida college campuses and two community colleges. My other experience includes freelance writing and cartooning, work for a nonprofit health organization and a food brokerage, scriptwriting for a small video-production agency, and writing articles for a regional magazine. I’m a native English speaker with a BA and MA, as well as additional doctoral study in English. My academic and writing background includes history, literature, the arts, cultural studies, environmental studies, politics, English, and science. I’m an imaginative, reliable, and creative writer. I work well with clients, welcome constructive criticism, take deadlines seriously, and am very careful about client privacy and confidential information. I’m comfortable with tight schedules and can readily meet 24- and 48-hour deadlines when a project requires them. A note about AI: I do not use generative AI to produce writing that I present to clients as my own work. My writing is original. I have, however, helped clients revise and “humanize” AI-generated material, and I can work with ChatGPT or other AI-generated text when a client specifically asks me to do so.
