I keenly offer my skills as a writer, linguist, writing expert, proofreader, editor, transcriber and speechwriter. My aim and promise is to make your work more fluent, idiomatic, concise and clear. I am a published writer specializing in speculative fiction. I have published works in both the Fantasy and Science Fiction genres. My newest story is releasing as part of an anthology of Cyperpunk/Solarpunk stories in June 2026 (see UTOPIA/HAVOC published by Mirari Press). I am a Native English writing expert that currently works for Lumos, a company under the umbrella of Grammarly/Superhuman. Having worked there since 2020, I have developed my skills in such a way that I am not simply a native speaker of English but an expert with experience proofreading the American, British, Australian and Canadian English Dialects and all associated rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Recent trends in the industry have also required that I expand my skillset into Operations, Onboarding, Annotation, Prompt Engineering and the use of toolsets like Coda and Notion. My Coda skillset is particularly advanced and I regularly optimise workflows and create handy automations to make everyday operations easier and more seamless, no matter the size or complexity of your company. I am also familiar with the use of many integrations, such as Slack, Jira, Google Calendar and more. In 2025, I worked on editing an extensive book (over 100 000 words) on documentary filmmaking in South Africa along with editors Julia Cain and Liani Maasdorp. The work featured articles from over a dozen academics and required very specific formatting and referencing styles to be publication ready. I am versed in the conventions of many referencing styles including Harvard, APA, MLA and CMOS (Chicago Manual of Style). I worked as the Lead Transcriber for acclaimed South African linguist Rajend Mesthrie. My work primarily consisted of digitising dozens of handwritten interviews that formed the basis of much of the academic work Prof. Mesthrie made in the late '90s and early 2000s. I also have extensive experience with audio transcription, having worked for UK-based company Way with Words in 2020 and having transcribed dozens of interviews while working on my Linguistics degree. My educational background serves to deepen my writing and editorial skills as I studied both Linguistics and English Literature. My academic writing history and the fact that I have written a mini-thesis (of more than 25 000 words) on Sociolinguistics means that I am intimately familiar with the ins and outs of academic writing, referencing, plagiarism, literature reviews, bibliographies and more. I completed my degree in 2019, well before the widespread usage of LLMs. I am also a certified Level 5 TEFL teacher. Some of my other achievements include placing 12th for After Dinner speaking at the World's Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship (Lithuania - 2014). I ranked 1st in South Africa for After Dinner Speaking at the National Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship (Johannesburg - 2013). I won first prize in the University of Cape Town's First Year Short Story Competition (2016). My other interests are in Novels, Digitisation, Constructed Languages, YouTube Content Creation, Voice Acting, Tutorials and CVs.
