Jake S.

Senior Full Stack / Serverless Engineer specializing in migrating from legacy code, working in polyglot (multi-language) environments, and protecting data integrity. I build modular, testable, and scalable systems that guarantee the integrity of your data, ensuring it can keep up with all your business needs. I have driven the migration of large-scale enterprise applications from legacy implementations to modern, cloud-based architectures while ensuring no loss of data in flight and minimizing downtime. As business needs change, technologies evolve, and developers leave a team, you must get to a robust, easy-to-maintain, well-documented codebase. Without institutional knowledge of the history behind each design decision, you can wonder how to escape a chaotic situation without affecting your end users. I bring a systematic approach to navigating these kinds of projects. Whether this is where your system is now, or you're starting something new and want to ensure you keep up with best practices from the start, working with me will ensure you end up with maintainable, thoroughly tested, clearly documented, and stable code. I will start by getting to know your business needs and technical requirements and, from there, develop a plan that divides your goals into clearly defined short-term milestones. My fixed-priced contracts ensure that your budget is not affected by surprises. At the same time, my agile approach to planning will keep things flexible enough to accommodate any shifting priorities.
