A manuscript can have a good story, valuable ideas and everything an author wants to communicate, yet still need a careful editorial eye to bring it all together. I'm a professional book editor helping authors turn manuscripts into clear, engaging and well-polished books while preserving the author's voice, style and intended meaning. I work across different types of book manuscripts, including fiction, children's books and nonfiction. My approach depends on the book, its intended readers and what the writing needs. My editorial work includes: - Developmental editing: Reviewing the manuscript's overall structure, content, storytelling, flow and development of ideas. - Line editing: Improving sentence structure, expression, clarity, readability and flow without changing the author's voice. - Copyediting: Correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, word usage, repetition and inconsistencies. - Proofreading: Checking the final text for remaining errors before publication. - Manuscript assessment: Providing thoughtful feedback on a manuscript's strengths, weaknesses and areas that need attention. For children's books, I pay particular attention to age-appropriate language, readability, storytelling and the experience of young readers. For nonfiction, I focus on clear communication, logical flow, consistency and making the author's ideas easy to understand and follow. I have an MFA in Creative Writing and an academic background in English Language and Literature. I bring careful reading, editorial judgement and respect for the author's original work to every project. I do not use generative AI or automated generative-AI tools to edit manuscripts or produce editorial feedback. I also treat client manuscripts and project materials as confidential and never share or use client work in my portfolio without permission.
