Hi, I’m Maria. I’m a Medical Doctor specialized in Family Medicine. I run my own private practice in Morocco, provide telemedicine consultations, and work with clients around the world on medical writing, clinical research, healthcare AI, medical review, translation, and educational content. A few years ago, I discovered that medicine doesn’t only happen in a consultation room. Sometimes it’s reviewing a research paper before publication. Sometimes it’s helping a healthcare startup build safer medical content. Sometimes it’s checking whether an AI model is making clinically sound decisions. And sometimes it’s simply rewriting a paragraph so that a patient can finally understand what their doctor is trying to explain. That’s probably my favorite part of this work. I like making complex things feel simple without losing what makes them accurate. In my clinic, every day is different. I might spend the morning managing diabetes and hypertension, then move on to women’s health consultations, preventive care, mental health, or a telemedicine appointment with someone who simply needs clear guidance and reassurance. Seeing patients every day keeps me grounded. It reminds me that medicine isn’t only about guidelines and research papers. It’s about people. I’m also completing a Master’s degree in Aesthetic Medicine at Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences (UM6SS). It’s a comprehensive medical program covering dermatology, nutrition, healthy aging, regenerative medicine, lasers, facial anatomy, and evidence-based aesthetic medicine. I chose this path because I genuinely enjoy learning. Medicine keeps evolving, and I think we should evolve with it. I work comfortably in English, French, and Arabic, and over the years I’ve collaborated on a wide variety of projects, including medical writing, medical editing, literature reviews, healthcare SEO, clinical research, AI training and evaluation, prompt evaluation, medical fact-checking, patient education, medical translation, telemedicine, and educational content for healthcare professionals and patients. Earlier in my Upwork journey, I worked as a voice-over artist. It might sound unrelated, but I think it taught me one of the most valuable lessons in freelancing. People remember how easy you are to work with. They remember that you answer messages, respect deadlines, ask the right questions, and genuinely care about doing a good job. I’ve carried those habits into every medical project I’ve taken on since. If we work together, you’ll be working directly with someone who practices medicine every day.
