I'm Movses, a senior data engineer and database developer with 14+ years of experience, AWS certified. I build data pipelines, warehouses and the databases under them, and I keep them simple, cheap to run and future-proof. Database development has always been my numero uno. I started in card payment processing, where the whole back office lived in Oracle PL/SQL, and since then Postgres, SQL Server and Snowflake are home too. SQL is my native language, and I code in Python, Scala, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL and Bash. What I do most: 1. Data pipelines on AWS (Lambda + Step Functions, Glue, EMR, S3, Athena/Iceberg), including moving clients off setups that cost more than they should 2. Warehouses on Snowflake with Matillion, Airflow and dbt, up to 100s of TB at Philip Morris International 3. Postgres and Oracle development and optimization, from query plans to bloat, partitioning and indexing 4. Apache Superset from setup to embedded multi-tenant dashboards with row level security 5. RAG and LLM data pipelines (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, LangChain), with Postgres as both the app database and the vector store I also run Data42, a small data engineering company in Yerevan, so for bigger projects I can bring a team. I stay involved after the project wraps up, because I only take on projects that genuinely interest me.
