PHP SECURITY UPDATE, OCTOBER 2026: if your WordPress site is on an older version of PHP, I can help this week. On October 21, 2026 the PHP team released fixes for two critical security flaws (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). The fixes cover PHP 8.2 and newer only. Sites on PHP 8.1, 8.0 or any 7.x version will not get a fix and need to be upgraded. The catch: upgrading PHP on an older WordPress site often breaks a theme or a plugin, which is usually why it was never upgraded in the first place.
