Peter L.

Native-English writer and editor embracing efficient communication and meeting deadlines. I bring a diverse professional and intellectual background to my work — and a decent sense of humor. I’ve been wordsmithing in a variety of capacities most of my adult life — from journalism to book editing to copywriting to webpage content. Some areas of specialization include: • architecture and construction • art and design • environment and environmental issues (climate, sustainability) • history and politics • labor relations and unions • sports • supply chain and maritime transportation • tech (artificial intelligence [AI], machine learning [ML], data analytics) I have extensive copyediting experience in a variety of fields, including: • academic journal submissions • blogs • general interest books • reference works • university press publications My editing is mostly in nonfiction categories, including business, history, sociology, and success self-help (personal transformation, workplace culture, and leadership and motivation). I also specialize in bibliography editing and formatting citations, footnotes, endnotes, reference lists, figures, and tables per the Chicago Manual of Style and APA 7. This work has been for major academic publishers such as Oxford University Press and Gale Group, along with many individual authors. This includes converting in-text citations into “blind notes,” “trailing phrase notes,” or “key phrase notes.” Other professional experience includes working as a political campaign staffer, labor union officer, and entertainment industry technician.
